360° is the result of the journey around a circle, and that journey with the aid of a pair of compass starts in the centre. To go 3600, we have to begin from the centre. Our centre is our resident personality that we carry about with us daily. This center is where our leadership emanates, it drives all we do as we exercise leadership in our world. First, over self and then others, where gaining success at leading oneself is a sure guarantee of proficiency and success at leading others. The perpendicular from the centre of the circle going up is individual’s alignment with the Creator and the one going down represents awareness that his time here is short.
The downward perpendicular, causes one to live from the perspective that one day we are all going down, which makes relating down easy. For, since we are all going down anyway, why treat those below us as if they are less human than we are. The horizontal depicts our common humanity; everyone’s centre rests on the horizontal, where it forms a zero with the vertical perpendicular. This means everyone starts from ground zero sort of. Our centres intersect with life and death, the Creator and the realities of our few days on earth and how you like to see your today, from the perspective of your last days. From our centers, our individual core personalities, a thorough all round view is essential. Having acknowledged your alignment with the divine, the mundane and our shared humanity, we become super successful in coming out and getting across with others.
The concept of the 3600 leadership is leading oneself first, so he can lead others above, below and across successfully. Somehow, everyone one is a leader, and everyone needs leadership and when one can come to a centre with himself, leading from every angle is possible. Wherever we are in life or in an organization, there are always people above us, below us and on the same level with us. Your ability to manage these three sets of people including yourself is important. You must be able to first lead yourself before you can lead others. In an organization, it is very possible to lead from whatever position you occupy, and this emanates from connecting with your centre.
How does one connect with their centre? By converging with themselves. This means agreeing with who you actually are. As humans, there is the good, the bad, and the ugly in us. A lot of people are more comfortable with aligning with their good parts than they are with their bad parts. They feel terrible when their bad parts show up, but it isn’t supposed to be so. We are not perfect beings, therefore everything about us cannot be perfect. We have to accept that just like everyone else, we are good, we are bad, and we can be ugly. While we work on the bad and ugly sides of us, if we hate ourselves for it, we cannot make progress.
3600 leadership is accepting who we are and accepting the same human attributes from people. It is leading ourselves first before leading others. It is leading below, above and across.
